Benchmarks for the Core Content Levels
For each level, benchmarks have been written for each competency and matched to
the expectation levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy*. These are descriptions of a
practitioner’s performance that serve as a standard of comparison for
evaluation or judging quality.
Level 1 of the Gateways Career Lattice is designed for those
entering the profession and can be earned with a 45 clock-hour,
community-based, non-credit training. These benchmarks and outcomes were used
in writing the materials that are now utilized in trainings offered statewide
through the Illinois Trainers Network. They have been included here so they can
be used as models for those writing outcomes to match the benchmarks at other
levels.
The benchmarks for the Career Lattice have been completed. These document are
intended to be a useful tool for those providing education and training. They
take the Core Content Area document and the achievement expectations of the
Matrices and provide appropriate benchmarks and the IPTS matches for each
level. It is assumed that those actually designing programs that address these
benchmarks will create their own corresponding outcomes for their curriculum.
