"Illinois Director Credential gives validation to persons
in the Early Childhood field. Obtaining this credential was at times challenging, but very rewarding. This credential
has not only added to my educational growth, but my personal growth as well.
This credential is important because it recognizes that Early Childhood is needed
and appreciated."

My name is Carol Aka, and I have been in the educational field for over thirty-two years. I have taught every grade from preschool to adult education. I entered the Early Childhood field twenty-two years ago when I became the Parent Coordinator for a daycare center. I, later, became the Director of the same daycare with a staff of twenty-two and a population of one hundred and fifty-two children. I became a supervisor for the Early Headstart program where I supervised Daycare homes. I decided to become a Daycare Home Provider while I was working with them. It was the best decision of my life, and I have enjoyed it tremendously. I am now working on my 04 Certification. I want to be able to provide quality care in my home. I feel that people in the early childhood field must continually educate themselves as the field is evolving, and new findings are happening all the time. We must stay current in order for our children to receive the best possible educational start in life.
