"Receiving the Illinois Director Credential has made my work
over the past 20+ years more credible in the eyes of the public."
|
Delores was awarded the Level II Illinois Director Credential in November 2002.
She has been the Site Director of the School for Little Children of Evanston
for 3 years.
Delores' early childhood experience began in 1972 after graduating from Chicago
State University and beginning her career as an assistant teacher in a
Montessori school. In 2000, after 20 years as a day care teacher, she entered
her current position as Site Director at School for Little Children of
Evanston's Infant/Toddler program. Her commitment to the field is grounded in
the belief that if children received the best care and education in their early
years, then their elementary school years would be greatly enhanced by that
experience. Over the years, Delores has strived to include children's
cognitive, physical and emotional development in their day care experience.
When asked how she feels about receiving the Illinois Director Credential,
Delores states that she feels it has made her work over the past 20+ years more
credible in the eyes of the public. She also feels that IDC is the first step
in increasing the professionalism in the field and feels that credentials for
teachers are not far behind.
Delores and her husband of 30 years have two children, four grandchildren and
two 8 year-old cats. In her spare time, Delores enjoys quilting, crossword
puzzles, reading good novels and baking. A future goal of hers is to learn to
play the cello.
