“I was pleased to receive the Illinois Director Credential. I
feel that my long commitment to education has been validated. Also I enjoyed
the process of reflecting over what I have done, what I am doing and what I
want to continue to do. What I value the most is that I have had the
opportunity to be a teacher and a director simultaneously. This has been a very
rewarding challenge.”

I entered the Early Childhood field very early in my career. I was fortunate to
take a child development class in 1960 which had a requirement of observing
young children in the school nursery school. Two years later I attended
Pestalozzi Froebel Teacher College and worked on a Bachelors of Education
degree. I began teaching first grade and then kindergarten until I had my own
family. When my youngest child attended preschool I was a substitute teacher
and liked it so much I stayed working in this field. The amazing thing is that
I still enjoy being with young children. They are so loving, honest and
trusting and I can help them learn a little about logic and how to have fun and
still be friendly. My goal is to continue to provide a warm environment where
all children will grow and thrive.
My free time is spent with my 3 children and 8 grandchildren. I also enjoy
gardening and cooking.
