Senior Director - Early Childhood Services

"To receive the credential was a wonderful feeling of accomplishment . . ."

Gale was awarded the Level III Illinois Director Credential in July 2001. She has been the Senior Director of the Early Childhood Services for Heller JCC for 2 years.

Holding a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, Gale has been an educator, administrator and teacher trainer for the past 32 years. She feels fortunate to have studied under Dr. Constance Kamii and Dr. Rheta DeVries when they co-chaired the Masters Program in Early Childhood Education at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Gale writes that "This education laid an incredible foundation for me in 'Constructivist Theory' at a very imprintable time in my then very young career." She is also a validator for NAEYC and is serving her second term on the Accreditation Commission Decision Panel. Among Gale's contributions to the field, she enjoys training staff in emergent curriculum and in helping centers achieve NAEYC accreditation.

Gale says that receiving the Illinois Director Credential was a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and she needed to revisit much of her career history in order to obtain it. She adds that her hope is that IDC becomes highly regarded by the general community and increases the value of those professionals who have worked so hard to achieve this milestone in their careers.
