"As a Next Step Professional Growth Advisor, applying for the
credential myself was a very useful way of learning the process."

Jill was awarded the Level II Illinois Director Credential in June 2001. She has
been the Owner / Director of Early Learning for 25 years.
Jill first became interested in child development when her daughter was young,
and she then started taking classes at the University of Illinois.
After graduating with a degree in early childhood education in 1972, Jill
directed the Orchard Downs Infant Day Care Center at the U of I for 4 years.
She continued to take one course per semester during those years and in 1976
received a Master's degree in early childhood education. That summer, Jill
started Early Learning, a private child care center in Champaign, which
celebrated its 25th "birthday" on August 31, 2001.
Among Jill's professional contributions to the field is her work as a mentor to
other directors. In 1992, Jill participated in "Taking Charge of Change" at
National-Louis University, conducted by Paula Jorde-Bloom. In that program's
second year, she began mentoring directors who participate in that training,
and has continued to do so to the present. Jill also went through the "Next
Step" training to become a Professional Growth Advisor for the IDC while she
was applying for the credential herself.
As for the Illinois Director Credential, Jill says that it is a wonderful
program and a great way to recognize directors. "As a Next Step Professional
Growth Advisor, applying for the credential myself was a very useful way of
learning the process."
