“Creating the IDC portfolio and thereby reflecting on the
skills and knowledge base I’ve acquired over a twenty year period in my early
childhood career was an entirely enriching and affirming experience for me. I
realized in a very concrete way how diverse my skill set is, how far-reaching
the field of early childhood education is, how critical my work is to families,
children and staff, and how competence grows deeply over time. I also enjoyed
seeing how the tangible connection between academic preparation, practical
experience, and making professional contributions to the field all add up to
high quality services for today’s young people.”
