Owner/Director
Home Sweet Home Childcare
Chicago, IL
Years in Position: 28 years

I have been a home-based childcare provider for 28 years. I started my business because I couldn’t find after school care for my son. I started this business out of need, but it’s been a wonderful learning experience for me. Commitment to professional growth has always been important part of my career. I am an Illinois Trainers network trainer, have taught numerous workshops, and advocated for quality care by serving as a mentor to other childcare providers for over fifteen years. In my 28 years as a provider I have served on many community committees and co-founded a family childcare association. The more we can help other providers to do a good job, the more we can support ourselves and the community to make the commitment to quality care for children. I believe learning is a life-long process. I am always looking for new opportunities to grow. My most recent accomplishment was earning my Illinois Director Credential level 2. I felt so honored to receive it. The process was an excellent opportunity to take a closer look at my business skills and education. It has given me a new confidence and a new path to follow in my profession. It also has helped me to encourage others to pursue the Illinois Director Credential.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my son Kevin and my dog Winston, relaxing, watching old musicals.
