In each position came a different responsibility and with all of
the prior responsibilities, helped shape me into a productive director.

"The program for the IDC is wonderful and it gives opportunities
to individuals in the field to be recognized by people, families, and other
centers around the state. The IDC is a good networking tool and has positive
effects for directors and potential directors. For me when I received the IDC I
wasn't a director any more and had begun working for CPS with the Community
Partenrship Program office with Dr. Christine Ryan. I was excited and
overwhelmed at the fact that with all of my hard work and dedication to
children and their families I was being recognized in some way. Achieving the
Level III only made me want to continue to reach for the top and continue
moving forward."

My name is Sonja LaCaze and I am a mother of a 9-year old son. I've always
wanted to help children in some way or another. I went from nursing, to
radiology and fianlly to Early Childhood. When I entered the field in 1996 it
was weird, I was only 19 years old and it had felt like I was meant to do this.
While being in the field for the past 12 years, I've had several positions,
which were, a teacher assistant, teacher, lead teacher, education coordinator,
and director. In each position came a different responsibility and with all of
the prior responsibilities, helped shape me into a productive director. I was
able to see things from both sides of the coin. My goals are to continue to be
a great leader in the field of Early Childhood Education and continue mentoring
future leaders around me.
