Spotlight on IDC Recipients

"Receiving the Illinois Director Credential has helped me influence my own staff to continue to pursue themselves. We must continue to strive the importance of education in our field and to pursue greater expectations of ourselves as well."

Stacy Olszewski

Level II

Director / Owner
State of Illinois Child Development Center
Years in position: 9

I entered the field of Early Childhood Education because I had such a fun time working with young children. I laughed, I cried and my day always went by quickly. I enjoyed working with the young infants to the after-school group. Recently, I have spent more of my time working in administration where I also find enjoyment in working with parents and teachers. Education is learning what you didn’t even know you didn’t know by Daniel Boorstin. I am defined by being a mother, wife and daughter. I love running, reading for entertainment and hanging out with my friends and family.

Receiving the Illinois Director Credential has helped me influence my own staff to continue to pursue themselves. We must continue to strive the importance of education in our field and to pursue greater expectations of ourselves as well. The more we can articulate that we are not babysitters but professionals, the easier it will be for our communities to see us as professionals. This credential in one more step towards that direction.
