Sue was awarded the Level III Illinois Director Credential in October 2002. She
has been the Executive Director of Sandbox Schools of Early Care &
Education for 35 years.
Sue is a veteran Early Childhood Professional. Entering the field as a primary
grade school teacher and enjoying that position for ten years, she left to
start her own pre-school 35 years ago. The Sandbox School grew from one to
seven centers over the years. Sue's own five children attended the first
Sandbox School and now five of her eight grandchildren attend the same school
A life long learner, Sue earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Leadership
from National-Louis University at age 52. She has served on the board of
PSO/ICCA for many years. She chairs the Professional Development Committee and
is a past board member and chair of Professional Development of the National
Child Care Association. She continues teaching at Moraine Valley Community
College and teaches the the National Administrators Credential from NCCA. She
also teaches workshops throughout the state. Sue continues to serve on both
state and national child care committees.
When asked about the impact that earning the Illinois Director Credential has
had on her, Sue response that it autographs her work as an early childhood
professional with excellence.
