My name is Kim Denise Carter; I am 32 years old, a single parent of two. I have a home daycare that services the children in our community. Powell’s Playhouse Home Daycare is in Chicago, IL. and serves ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. I am the Owner, Director, and Provider.

I am a self-starter, individual, highly motivated person who gives only the best of myself and nothing less. Known as someone who takes her job or task seriously and have compassion for others. The highlight of my life is helping others; I live to be a blessing to others. I thank God everyday of my life for the opportunities that he has allowed me to experience. I am pursuing my CDA as a stepping-stone to open some doors educationally for me. Getting my CDA is only the beginning for me; I plan on furthering my education in the near future. Knowledge is power. Our children need to see and know that having an education can take you places and make your dreams a reality.

I have a strong interest and respect for children, because children are so innocent they are so trustworthy to everyone, they only know what we teach them and the examples we set before them. In many ways I feel as though we the adults have failed our young children. There just aren’t enough good positive role models out there to encourage our children to do the right things or to teach them the proper ways of doing things. This is why I am inspired to work and be a mentor for our children. Children learn and live by what they see in their environment.
