Illinois and National Resource Links help you locate organizations and initiatives within and outside Illinois that offer training, advocacy and policy information, research, and support for parents and practitioners in early care and education.

Choose a category below to display the links in each area. Definitions for the following categories are provided below.

 

Advocacy
Organizations that engage in advocacy or provide tips, tools, or resources for others to influence public policy related to early childhood or school-age care.

Early Childhood Initiatives
Projects or programs that aim to increase the quality, availability, or accessibility of early childhood or school-age programs. Some initiatives are funded with public dollars, some with private dollars, and some reflect a partnership of public and private support.

Federal Government
Federal agencies that provide services or programs for young children, school-age children, and their families.

Parent Support
Organizations that provide services directly to, or in support of, parents or guardians of preschool- or school-age children.

Professional Organizations
Organizations that provide services to those who work in early childhood or school-age programs, including training, information, and advocacy.

Research Centers
Organizations that host research projects, disseminate research summaries, or provide data resources on early childhood or school-age care topics.

Research Reports
Publications that address topics related to the provision of early childhood programs or school-age programs, or topics related to the professional preparation of those who work in early childhood or school-age programs.

State Government
State agencies that provide services or programs for young children, school-age children, and their families.

Training Organizations
Groups that provide, sponsor, or coordinate training events and resources for those who work in early childhood or school-age programs.

 

Criteria for Inclusion

The "links" section of the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Web site points to sites containing information or resources useful to those who work with young children. Links are selected that are consistent with the mission of this Web site, which is to increase the educational and training opportunities for early care and education providers in Illinois. Links are checked monthly for accuracy and reviewed by at least two people before being added to this list. This Web site does not generally link to sites that are primarily intended for the sale of products or services.
