The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for preschool-aged children at the WIU Infant and Preschool Center. This position involves planning and implementing high-quality, play-based instruction that supports children’s physical, cognitive, language, social-emotional, and self-care development.
The Lead Teacher collaborates closely with families, staff, university students, and community partners to support high-quality early childhood education and inclusive practices. The position also supports teacher candidate development by modeling effective instructional practices, classroom management, lesson planning, assessment, and professional collaboration.
