SAYD Level 1
The SAYD Credential Level 1 is a great place to start if you are just beginning your career in school-age and youth development. It can be earned by taking a series of 16 trainings offered locally through your CCR&R and partially online at Gateways i-learning website. There is no fee to apply for the SAYD Credential Level 1 and no transcripts are needed.
To complete six of the SAYD Credential Level 1 training modules online, you must first be a Gateways Registry Member. Then log in at the Gateways i-learning website where you can take six of the 16 modules online.
To find the rest of the SAYD in-person trainings in your area, search the Gateways Training Calendar by typing "SAYD Credential" in the keywords.
Once you have completed all 16 modules your Gateways SAYD Credential Level 1 will be automatically awarded to you. Your Credential will automatically show up on your Registry Professional Development Record (PDR). You can print your PDR as proof of your Credential attainment.
The 16 SAYD Credential Level 1 modules are:
SAYD Module 1: Introduction to Child and Youth Development
SAYD Module 2a: School-Age Development (Ages 5 – 12)
SAYD Module 2b: Early Adolescent Development (Ages 11 – 16
SAYD Module 2c: Late Adolescent/Young Adult Development (Ages 15 – 21)
SAYD Module 3a: Infant/Toddler Development (Birth – 36 months)
SAYD Module 3b: Preschool Development (Ages 3 – 5)
SAYD Module 4a: Health and Nutrition
SAYD Module 4b: Safety
SAYD Module 5a: Environment and Curriculum
SAYD Module 5b: Programming
SAYD Module 6: Observation and Assessment
SAYD Module 7a: Building Relationships with Children and Youth
SAYD Module 7b: Managing and Guiding Relationships
SAYD Module 8a: Community Relationships

The Gateways School-Age & Youth Development Credential is for school-age and youth professionals who have formal education, training, and experience with children (ages 5-16), either in the form of supervised observation or direct work experience.
